Looking for my next daily ski after Fischer RX-8

Hi Folks,

Hoping to tap the community knowledge here as I'm looking to replace my loved but somewhat aged 160cm Fischer RX-8s.

Skiing mostly out west - Tahoe, BC, Utah, probably 50% on piste, 30% bumps, and 20% off-piste crud/everything else. Probably 15-30 days a season. Somewhere between advanced and expert (grew up racing) though decidedly intermediate in powder (though rarely skied, grew up on the East coast, never adapted fully after moving west, hah!).

I'm 5-7, 140#. Fischer RX-8 was one of the best skis I've ever used, so if there was a current version of that I'd just pick that one up. Sadly there isn't...so I'm open to ideas. Reviews seem positive on the Stockli Laser SX line, Head Supershape Speed....

Thoughts on skis / length? Ideas? Thanks everyone.

Take a look at the Head Supershape Rally which comes in a 163.

Isn't the Fischer Progressor 800 the successor to the RX-8?  Those more knowledgeable in the details may chime in.  I had the Progressor 8+ as a slower speed, on-piste carving ski, and enjoyed it immensely.

But given your comment about limited powder skiing ability, I might suggest something a bit wider like the Head Rev80 or 85, or any of the countless competitors in that area of width.

At 140 pounds, don't go too stiff!

Yes the Progressors replaced the old RX-8/RX-9 skis.  I had the original RX-8, then the Progressor 8+ and now the Fischer Superior SC.  The P8+ was a better ski than the RX-8 and I would expect the P800 and P900 to be better still.  I ended up with Superior SC because I found a pair online at a giveaway price.  Similar dimensions to the RX-8 but definitely a step or two up in performance and less versatile.  Wouldn't recommend it as your only ski unless you never leave the firm groomers.

As mentioned the Head Supershapes are current skis worth considering since you liked the RX-8.  If you want a wider ski, the Fischer Motive 86 is worth considering.
