Need a 2nd Opinion on Boot Fitting

First off I'm 5'9" and about 195 lbs, 36 yrs old. Size 11 shoe. Skiing ability falls somewhere in between strong intermediate and advanced.

Switching back to skiing after snowboarding for 15 years because my little kids are now on skis. Decided it was time to commit to skiing and get some new boots.

Spent time with bootfitter yesterday who had me in the 28.5 saolomon X max 100 and 28.5 tecnica mach 1 110. Mach 1 felt a bit roomy and heel was definitely not locked down. X max was much more snug when compared, but was difficult to tell if my big toe was grazing front of liner. Little toes definitely not. After heating up the liners of x max and spending about 10 mins in them they felt pretty good with no bothersome pressure points so I pulled the trigger and purchased.

I'm having second thoughts now because the bootfitter was trying to decide between 28.5 size or 27.5 size for me based on my foot measurement. Problem is we never even tried on the 27.5. I'm worried I bought a boot (28.5) that will ultimately prove too big once it gets worn in. Thoughts?

The shop still has the boots because they are fitting to bindings/skis over next couple days, but I think I should go back in and spend some time in the smaller 27.5 version and maybe exchange? Everyone's feet are different but it seems lots of folks who are size 11 shoe, end up in 27.5 or even sometimes smaller boot sizes.

Any advice greatly appreciated!

instead of a shoe size---how long are your feet in centimeters?

If your toes are not touching in the liner the boot will probably get too big in a couple of day's skiing.

The Salomon's are very roomy and you can usually downsize easily into the next smaller size.

read through the article above and "shell size" the boots you now have.
