Married at Stowe!!

Thread Starter
Jeff and I have set a date.............and it's March 27th! We're going to be married at Stowe, and oboe has graciously agreed to do the officiating! :

Details coming forthwith as they are hammered out, but we'd just like to extend an open invitation to all Bears interested to attend the early morning "ceremony on skis" and ski with us after. As some of the people attending do NOT ski, or do not ski well, the actual ceremony will be on Spruce, but skiing will be at Stowe and Spruce for the rest of the day.

This is not a full blown type of thang.......no bands, no presents, no traditional crapola (although I DO love cake! ). We're spending the money on next years Academy and Gathering instead of on droll wedding stuff (like spendy invitations, fake flowers, cutesy napkins, etc. Our priorities are well set!)
But the beer's on us, apres ski, at a place to be named soon. We may even spring for some wings!

Stay tuned for the details, and if you're in the area, drop by and say hello, and make some turns with us. I'll be the one with the veil on my helmet!

And oboe is doing this exactly how? Is there a new PSIA regulation that allows instructors to marry anyone if they're on snow at a ski resort. Kind of like Captain Steubing when the Pacific Princess was out beyond the limit?

Or along with the JD does he have an ordination from The Church of Infinite Powder Power?

The man's got many talents!

Seriously now - this is great news! Gonna be some party too!

Congratulations!

That is so cool ... getting married in at Stowe. Good luck and Best Wishes, since I cannot be there.

HeeHee... In my family every newlywed gets a jar, and a bag of beans. If you know what I am talking about.

For those lawyers checking credentials, I have performed many marriages over the last thirty-seven years as a Justice of the Peace (which I am no longer) and will perform the Bonni-skier_j nuptuals as a temporary Superior Court Judge. The days before and after the wedding, however, I'll be just plain ol' vanilla oboe.

Oboe, I thought you were a JP still...I don't know where I heard that though...A "temporary Superior Court Judge" wow, that's impressive!

Bonni and Jeff, this is GREAT news! I wish you the BEST of luck and hope to be able to make it!

"no bands, no presents, no traditional crapola (although I DO love cake! )" Should we each bring a cake???? Chocolate, right?

Nightingale - I believe they did. So this makes it the first marraige courtesy of Epicski. Who needs a dating service

Congratulations Bonni and Jeff. Sorry I won't be able to make it to the wedding, saving my airpoints to attend as many Academys and Gatherings as possible. So I'll have a drink with you then, might not be next year but maybe the one after.

Glad to see you have got your priorities right, saving your money for all the important things.

God bless,

You ought to find out the feasability of using the Chapel on Mansfield. It is on the grenest of green trails. I'll bet that it's even possible to get totally non-skiing peole up there and down.
Yep, I already suggested the Chapel clearing to Bonni. If I get round to getting a camera, I can take some shots and send them.
I also got the name of who we contact in the resort to line it all up officially too.
I think you could get 2+ level people down Toll Road provided they weren't terrified! And it's the prettiest part of that run, from the triple down to the chapel.
I've seen on-mountain weddings in which the non-skiing guests ride the chair back down. It sure would be nice to use that chapel or be close to the peak of Mansfield. Whadda yuh think, Bonni?

We are both overwhelmed by the support and help. That would be lovely if you guys could arrange the use of the chapel, and we'd be forever grateful to have such caring friends!

Yes, we met through Epicski. Isn't this just the cat's pajamas?

Thanks billions to AC. Without him, I'd still be a lonely Iowan. :

PS. Sorry to be missing you, Springhill. We won't be able to make Jay with our schedules. Dang! But! In memory of you, we have rented the room you and your roomie had at ETU for our stay while we're at Stowe. I liked that room a lot better than the one we had.

ant and epic, let's get the chapel!
Wonderful! While I cannot be with you in person I will be there in spirit. I will raise a glass in your direction.

Okey doke...I'll have to check though. It's tiny, so people wouldn't fit in it (and I suspect that since it's a real chapel, you have to have a god-person!), but using the spot should be no probs. I've asked Bonni what she wants to do and then will get onto the resort's person who co-ords such things.

You'll have to come over and ski and have a geez at it.
