Looking for some guidance...

Thread Starter

I'm looking to get a new pair of skis for this season.

Here's my info... 5'6" 190 lbs Intermediate to Intermediate Advance skier. I mostly ski our local "hill" in SE Michigan, occasionally ski UP North, and make 2 trips out west per year. My current ski is an '04 Atomic SX:10 154cm. This was only my second pair of skis.

I'm looking for guidance here... I skied on demo's last weekend my favorites I skied were:

Elan Amphibio 82Xti 176 cm - seemed too long

Rossi E80 176 cm- also seemed long, and a little soft maybe

I primarily ski on the groomers, I'm looking for something that's going to work well once the groomers are tore up and occasionally the Midwest powder days.

My local shop was offering some good deals. Here's what I've got my eyes on...

2015 Rossignol Experience Lineup- I can't decide on 80 (168cm) , 84 (170cm), or 88 (164cm)

2014 Elan Amphibio 88 Xti 170cm - These are a good deal which is why I'm looking at them, I liked the 82, but don'w want to spend the $$$$

2015 Shaggy's Copper Country Skis- Fanny Hooe 167cm- I like this is a MI based company and have heard good things. I am concerned that the 93mm waist is too much for MI skiing.

Thanks for your opinions...

From that list, Experience 84. Or the amphibio 88. The latter will be better for western trips.

Hands down, Amphibio 88xti, is my recommendation. I've skied the Amphibio 88xti and Rossi E88, the E88 was thoroughly unimpressive and, at least to me, not in the same league with the Amphibio.

I have a pair of very clean 176 82 xti's I'd sell for $400/shipped. Skied 3-4 days.

I have to agree, something in the 88mm waist is where you want to be, I'd guess 170 -174cm.
