Sometimes its good to teach your kid, sometimes it not, no matter how good you are..  Really depends on how well you child wants to learn from you.

 

As an example it is easier to show my nephew something especially skiing and my son will follow it and learn it, when I show him directly it doesn't work as well.  My daughter well enough said.

You're supporting my reasoning.

 

I attempted showing my son how to ski.  He took up snowboarding.

 

I tried for years just to coach my daughter.  Finally at the end of last season she started asking for help (7 years later).

 

I've had much more success with my grandson and two of my nieces than with any of my kids.  Now that they are older, they ask for my help.  I'm sure it is more about my personality than theirs.
