Dynastar powertrack length?

Thread Starter

I attended a demo day (my first ever) at Hunter Mtn this weekend. I tried a lot of ski’s and decided on the Dynaster Powertrack 84.

A friend that I had convinced to go (he had no intention of buying) also like the ski enough to buy it.

I only was able to try the 169 while my friend only got on the 176.

My friend (a better skier, probably a lower expert) is 5’7” and about 168,  while I’m 5’11” about 165.  I need the ski quickly so I ordered the 169 but I’m having nagging doubts about the length. My friend ordered the 176.

I’m currently on 10 yr old 170 atomic R11's (obviously no rocker).

I love to ski  trees and steeps – given this should I stick to the 169. Where, besides flat out speed would I miss the extra length? I ski mostly VT but get out west a few days per yr.

I probably have a day to change my mind so I would appreciate any quick feed back,

Matt

Since the Powertrack 84 has considerable tip rocker and is very easy to ski, also in bumps, crud and trees, I would opt for the 183 even... You're just in between lengths I would say. In any case, don't go below 176.

176.

176 for sure.  Stay away from the 183 if you have only skied the 169.  Though you may be able to ski it, for all terrain mostly in the east I would go 176.
