The Ghee-Full blown Winter conditions

I just got back from Grand Targhee for the first ski session of the season. Yeah, I got some damn tired legs but a grin from ear to ear. Grand Targhee Resort has been getting snow throughout the past few weeks.  In fact they've been hit with over 100" so far making for some ideal early season conditions.

Locked and Loaded for the 8 hour drive to The Ghee

Our crew made the trek from North Idaho in search of snow. With a serious itch to get some turns in we were first in line on the Dreamcatcher Chair saturday morning.  Cloudy skies but clear visibility gave us an opportunity to see much of the terrain and pick and choose where to start.

Desiree Leipham getting after the chalky snow in Lost warrior

We headed over to our runs over to the Blackfoot Traverse and skied the Lost Warrior for the first few runs.

Big Al Dropping in "Old School" over the Teton Valley below

We heard that their was still plenty of untouched over by the Lighting Trees just off the Dreamcatcher. With plenty of steep pitches, open slots and rock outcroppings we played in this area for a majority of the day.

Around 2:30 the legs were feeling it from working the boards all day off piste.

It didn't take much convincing it was time to head to the Trap Bar for some Apres'!

Day # 2 we were treated to a little backcountry cat skiing with the Grand Targhee Catskiing Adventures. Talk about hitting this one perfect!

Des getting the POV shot in the backcountry

Former Texan Kate Hull getting her first taste of cat skiing

Blue skies and freshies on day # 2 of skiing, doesn't get any better than that.

Jeff Yates on an open canvas

We made plenty of laps in this terrain which has something for all levels of riders from wide open shots to plenty of fun, steep terrain.

Dan Herby and Alex Wohliab playing a little cat and Mouse

Grand Targhee's Catskiing Adventures is definitely a must do if you are going to spend some time skiing at The Ghee!

Just got back from a week at The Ghee. Snowed every day but 1. Conditions were so much fun. Our first time there so we did a lot of exploring. Chutes off Mary's Nipple were fun. Medicine Bowl had quite a bit of untouched powder. Under Sacajawea was a good run. Since top of Deeamcatcher was foggy a bit, so we spent a lot of time on the Blackfoot side, mostly Lost Warrior & Powder Cache. All in all a great trip. Staff couldn't be friendlier. Takes some doing to get there (5 hrs from SLC), but the snow was worth it.

Holy Crap that looks like fun!

Yes, skiing has been very good at GTR.

Just to correct any mis-information (and to to call out anyone), there are no chutes off of Mary's Nipple.

No offense meant, non taken.  First time there - still learning the road map... I guess the chutes I had in mind are part of Fred's - Patrol, Lighting & Instructor's Chutes.  I stand corrected, but with a smile still on my face...a great trip.  Your pic of the vista (today, I think?) points out that's the only thing we missed - sunshine!  But no complaints.  With clouds comes snow & we had 20" while we were there.

Just caught Desiree bombing White Grizzley on Ski Channel's "Freeride Chronicles" via You-Tube (when I can't ski I watch). Don't want to imply that you guys are not top shelf yourselves, but Des is a regular bomber pilot...

Bottlapivo-She definitely knows how to charge! Did you ever see her backstory, she used to be a pro in another sport.
