Lookout Pass

Skied Lookout today Friday l2/5.   Groomed runs were ok, a few dirt spots, a few rocks.  Chair 1 and beginner chair 4 only.  Hootowl was a good slalom course on top and a very very tight slalom  course on the bottom tree tip tops.   Silver on bottom was almost unavoidable dirt.   Off piste 3 inches of wet powder on top of very variable crust and ice (ugly).  Good for a few turns, had a good time but limited.

Quit at about 1130, it was starting to  rain.  Stopped at City Limits in Wallace and had a very good lunch.   If your haven't tried City Limits in Wallace you're missing out.

I was there today too Pete.  I tried to stay positive about the whole experience  Soft snow, no crowds, and got to stretch the legs a bit.  It could be worse, my home mountain (49N) doesn't appear to be anywhere near opening.  I bailed at 1230 due to sticky snow (and fatigue, but lets just blame it on the snow).  Here's to hoping that the pineapple coming midweek doesn't damage things too badly...

I was wondering about Lookout and whether it was worth making a trip.

I guess not.

Schweitzer had the bunny hill and 1 run (Midway) open off Basin Express.  I just can't get interested in that, so I'm skipping it until a few more runs and maybe even a little off-piste are open.

Things are ugly so far this year...

PTski, yep me too, came  down the face once and that snow wore me out/or was it my old legs, I agree with you lets blame it on the snow.

Skierish, so you don't wast a drive overr, check with me on Lookout and Silver, I will try to post here the conditions for both.  Silver opens today b ut there are A LOT OF ROCKS at silver, my past core shots will also agree.

Friday  12/19.

Left St. Maries this AM it was raining,  rained all he way to Exit 0, pulled off the freeway and said to myself I'll get a cup of coffee and head home.  Much to my wonder it started snowing on the off ramp AND was snowing in parking lot.  I was skiing until 1:30 and it snowed the whole time AND was snowing when I left.  Sure it will snow Fri night and might be ok Sat.

Limited skiing, Chair 1 only.  Gold, Silver and around the corner should be good.  Face still has a lot of treetops showing as does Hoot Owl on the bottom.

My humble opinion,  check AM web report if they get 3 in. ok if they get 6 in, mucho better
