recommendations for Jr. race ski.

Hello!  My 9 year old son is going into his 4th year of ski racing.  He skied on an Atomic 124 last year but grew 2 inches and gained 12 lbs.  He is now at 73lbs.  His coach suggested using the Atomics for Slalom and getting a pair of 130's for GS.  He has good control but could use more technique so I do not want to push him too much.  I also do not want to break the bank as this would be his 3rd pair of skis.  I would be interested in a used pair but worry about the edges and wear as you never know.  We are in MA.  Your thoughts are appreciated!

ps.  Any ideas on these?

Hi - Sounds good. No reason to get crazy with gear for a U10. The lengths are a touch short for 73 lbs, but you don't state height, so can't tell for sure. Don't agree with your reservations about used; try your local slopeside ski shop. Kids don't tend to be as hard on race skis as adults. You can exam the edges yourself, and the store will probably tune them as part of the the package. As long as half the edge is left, and the bases are decent, they'll last the season. Which is all you want them for anyway.
