Big Sky is up and running.
Just 3 runs open, stones everywhere, and very springlike temps, but there is more snow in the forecast, so hopefully things will improve soon...

I am planning to be there in early January, and crossing my fingers that there is a good base by then.

Thanks for the report and pictures. Please keep us posted.

@Martin Bell  That looks like decent coverage for early snow conditions.  Here's hoping you have an epic ski season

After Thanksgiving, we had two weeks of nothing but warm temps and no snow. Too warm to even make snow.
Then, two days ago, it got colder and we got a few inches. Coverage is still very thin, but things are looking a little better now.

A few more inches of snow arrived yesterday, and some of the skiing below the treeline is getting quite good.

(Up above the tree-line, the mountain is still looking fairly bare, and it will take a couple more storms for all the chutes and gullies to fill in.)

6-16 inches in the past 24 hours and it was getting fairly deep in some places today.

Good to hear!  I'll be out there next week so I'm glad they are getting some good snow.  Hear it might get a little chilly.

Thanks, Martin.  I will be there in early January.

Glad to see it looking so good.

Lucky you! Looks awesome, and nice tracks!

Just out of curiosity, how much snow does it take to cover all of the stuff around Lone Peak? Is that usually open before January?

The tram is operating now with the Liberty Bowl open.  If you are talking about the North Summit snowfields it will be awhile longer.

Liberty and Big have been open for over three weeks. They open it pretty early.

After a buddy came back last year with tales of 3 feet over two days Big Sky has been on my list. Great pics and nice tight turns.

Thanks for sharing!

What areas/runs are some of these pictures from? I'll be there with a group for the first time in a few weeks and would love to check out some of the areas in the pictures.

Some of those last ones were from Otter Slide / First Gulley / Crohn's - all accessible from the Lone Peak Tram.
And the last couple were taken just below Lower Pinnacles (which is not open yet, but you can traverse in to the bottom of it...)
Have a great time in Big Sky. We have had a pretty dry January - this fits with the pattern of the past few seasons, where January is dry and mild, and then it starts dumping again in February - so fingers crossed!!

Awesome, thanks!

Yeah I have been checking weather reports daily and we are definitely hoping for some good snow.

Nice day on the Peak yesterday, with a small dusting of powder left over from the weekend.
