My Baby's Growing Up-Happy Birthday

As a parent, in life nothing is more precious than your children and watching them grow and prosper. Today my youngest son turns 9 years old and I wanted to wish him a happy birthday. I'm definetely biased, but he's a pretty amazing kid. Two months after he was born he came down with a respiratory virus that kept him in an oxygen tent for about 2 weeks and gave the doctors and us, to say the least, quite a scare. Now he's 5'4", 105 pounds of pure energy, and a pretty exceptional athlete for his age. I love you son and I'm very proud...Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to your son, coach. He has one of the greatest genetic assets in the world--a dad who loves him.

Happy Birthday to your boy. I know how you feel. My children are a great source of pride also. My boy will be 6 on Christmas Eve. He started kindergarden this fall and loves it. My 13 year old daughter once again made Distinguished Honor Roll.

Please forgive me and my parental vanity on your thread but I'll take any opening to tout my kids.

Well done, and a happy birthday from me too.

Sounds like you have the second best kids in the world.

Guess who's are first??

Happy birthday to your boy, he sounds wonderful.
All of your kids sound great!
Eventhough I do not have any children of my own...I am going to boast about 2 of my neices. I have the greatest neices in the world (my other neices and nephews aren't bad either but they are in their late 20's or older now).
The youngest, 11 is a straight A student and a talented trumpet player. She is also a very good athelete (soccer, skiing, snowboarding and swimming primarily). The next youngest neice, just turned 19, is a sophomore at the New England Conservatory of music and is exceptionally talented, she is also very good academically (but don't mention sports, she may say, What's that?).

Oh, did I mention that one of them was a miricle baby.
The 11 year old's mom wasn't supposed to be able to have children. (I had to mention both here or I wouldn't have heard the end of it)

Happy Birthday, miracle child! This Natalie Merchant song is for you! you can substitute "he" for "she"

Wonder

Doctors have come
from distant cities
just to see me
stand over my bed
disbelieving what they're seeing

they say I must be one of the wonders
of god's own creation
and as far as the can see they can offer
no explanation

newspapers ask
intimate questions
what confessions
they reach into my head
to steal the glory
of my story

they say I must be one of the wonders
of god's own creation
and as far as the can see they can offer
no explanation

I believe
fate smiled and destiny
laughed as she came to my cradle
"know this child will be able"
laughed as my body she lifted
"know this child will be gifted
with love, with patience
and with faith
she'll make her way"

people see me
I'm a challenge
to your balance
I'm over your heads
how I confound you
and astound you
to know I must be one of the wonders
of god's own creation
and as far as you can see you can offer me
no explanation

I believe
fate smiled and destiny
laughed as she came to my cradle
"know this child will be able"
laughed as she came to my mother
"know this child will not suffer"
laughed as my body she lifted
"know this child will be gifted
with love, with patience
and with faith
she'll make her way

He's definetely a big boy for his age, but he gets it natural. His 11 year old brother is 5'8" & 165 pounds.

BTW, thanks to all for your kind words and wishes!

Coach13, happy birthday to your son. He's same age of my oldest (youngest is 8).
The more they grow, the more I'm proud of seeing them grow.
