Happy Thankskiing. Weekend recap - Alba Adventures Winter Season 2.

Skiing at Hunter Mountain - opening weekend 11/22 and 11/23 -with one day cold and winter like and day 2 like full on spring skiing with great conditions.

Only a couple of runs were open from top to bottom but, what was open was superb!  Hell Gate, Belt Parkway, to 7th Avenue, Kennedy and Mossy Brook were great. Hunter One was also open but, we did not ski on that peak.

Looks like Hunter was as nice as Windham. I was up there on Saturday.

Yo Jonathan! Where you hitting this weekend?  We live so close that we must take turns!

Depending on what time my party finishes on Saturday, I'm thinking of doing Hunter on Sunday.

Then the following two weekends I'll be at Whiteface then Sugarbush.

Maybe we can meet at the face then. We might go to Hunter again this weekend too since we have the BLC..

Stopped by Hunter and Windham today.  Was killing a little time on the way to to pick up someone at the Albany airport.  The Hunter run that I could see from the road was looking pretty thin.

The surprise was that Windham was open.  Folks said it was better than they expected.

It is "The Big Lift Card" get you 1 to 3 days of skiing - no black-outs and discounts other times.. Its a good deal if you are near the city and have plans to ski at Hunter.

One of the reasons I would go is because I need to pick up my BLC

When I was at Windham on Saturday, I talked to a guy on one of the lifts who had been at Hunter on Friday. He said Windham had better snow. I made my decision Saturday morning during the drive, and chose Windham.

As for the BLC, it's basically 3 trips to Hunter for $129 with no black outs, and some other discounts, as well as some discounts for friends. Saves having to search Liftopia for deals.

Nice video.  I like it when people edit and tell a story with their videos.  Beats the hell out of a 10 minute unedited helmet cam piece.

As far as conditions go - reminds me of many an early season day at Huntah.  I like to wait until there is some natural snow on the ground.  I am headed up to Saratoga for Thanksgiving , but do not have my gear together yet for skiing.  Was planning on bringing our mountain bikes but I think we will leave them at home and see if we can dig out our xc gear for this trip.

Your kids are gonna be really good skiers if you are getting in 30 days a season!

I was there on Sunday 11/23.  Springlike conditions on the 2 trails that were open and no lines at all anywhere.  I went a week later and they opened a 3rd trail and an additional lift.  Don't know if anymore trails will be added this weekend, but hopefully some will be.

Fancy seeing you here! We have had a few discussions today. I think we are going to hit up Mt. Snow this weekend - we have a free day from the Spring Pass then maybe do Okemo on Sunday - since we heard about the reduced admission with a few gifts.  We shall see...

Thanks for the nice report and video.  I was at Hunter last Sunday, 11/30.  Conditions were pretty good, especially considering it's November!  I was surprised there actually were moguls on Minya K.  They had gotten a bunch of snow the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, but Sunday was very warm.  Spring conditions.  Very uncrowded, especially considering how few ways down there were.  Really only Belt Parkway, Minya, or Hell Gate from the top.  Skied from around 9:30 to 2:00 solo and was exhausted.
