Afton Alps, Minnesota

Thread Starter

Vail Resorts recently bought Afton Alps a few years back and have made it beautiful. I have a couple videos on my YouTube channel that displays the beauty of the renovated resort.

FWIW, with a few more posts under you belt you should be able to embed videos here.

OP should go here and write a review for Afton Alps.  Their current reviews aren't that great, though they have the best terrain in the metro area.  Welch is also good but a bit farther out from the metro area..

Last year was the first year Afton was operated by Vail.  The changes they made were mostly trivially cosmetic (shiny new signs!), infrastructure-related (fancy new RFID lift-ticket readers, and I think they installed a lot of snow guns which they ran on open runs a lot), and pricing (it definitely didn't get any cheaper).   They also spent a LOT on their terrain parks, so if that's your thing, it's probably the place to go.

Oh, and they apparently did enough advertising to take the weekend crowds from bearable to completely insane.  YMMV.

But yes, Afton, Welch, and Wild are the top three hills, and Afton is the closest for a good bit of the metro area.
