Yes, the code will be announced soon - thanks.

You know Jacques, if you're spending that much a year on diamond stones, you really should put that money toward purchasing a Snow Glide ceramic edge tuning machine.:ROTF

LOL  I knew just putting you in the same sentence with ceramic edge tuning machine, let alone the thought of you purchasing one, would probably send you into cardiac arrest. :D    It's ok, I understand, some people just take longer to see the light than others.

Never, is a really long time, so I'll continue to hold out that you'll make your way over to the dark side. :beercheer:

Even if Vader was my father....I'd never go to the dark side!   That would be like not wearing a onesie when I ski!

while you're at it, take advantage of the sale and get two large oval brass brushes. they are the best.

one for cleaning before waxing and one for brushing off the wax, after the hard plastic. don't mix them: you don't want to put the crap you just took out, back!

you'll love those, guaranteed. cleaning the base before dumping more wax on it is very important... especially after any kind of base work or re-structuring or filing the edges (there's always crap that gets into the base and you NEED to get it out).

you could also get a large steel brush, to structure the base before cleaning, on wet days, but you can leave that for next year.

the large oval brushes are much more effective than the small ones.

the other thing that makes a big difference is a hard plastic scraper that you keep sharp. read this: http://www.epicski.com/t/129169/roto-scraping-or-ways-to-make-scraping-easy/30#post_1784146

as to the wax - the sky is the limit :)  Dr D's are good.

cheers

the kits also are missing these goodies:

- ptex candles - you will need them

- 100 diamond stone for hardened bases - with a 12 year old you will need that often. get a black moonflex, forget the DMTs.

- a fine file - i would get a separate 2 degrees fixed guide with a clamp for filing and diamonds on the edge. the file is important on ice and before races - it makes a difference. also to set the edges when you get the skis.

Consider this brush so nice the Swix president sniped one from me.

He convinced me to buy this closeout soft steel brush saying it was one of the nicest he has seen - so good in fact after I committed he asked if he could keep one for himself. After I got them in, one went straight to my tool box too!  Really nice soft steel with a nylon border; a steal especially with the 20% off sale & free shipping. Discontinued by Swix, so when they are gone they are gone.  For more details see: http://racewax.com/p-812-swix-oval-extra-fine-steel-ski-brush-t0191o.aspx
