Where is the best location in New England to get an introduction to skiing in gladed terrain?
Living in central VT and having a flexible work schedule I am blessed to be able to do a lot of midweek skiing in VT and NH. I would consider myself a strong intermediate skier. I generally ski groomed runs 95% of the time. But if it is groomed I can generally ski it comfortably.
I intend to take one or two lessons this year in order to try and sure up and improve my form and basic skiing technique. I am also hoping to venture out a bit more into less familiar territory by trying to learn how to ski glades.
Even though I have the work flexibility to ski midweeks, budget constraints mean I am skiing on the cheap, generally chasing midweek deals and discounts. Chasing powder is not something I can truthfully afford.
The only place I have skied gladded areas and not felt like I was about to kill myself, was last year in a narrow inter-trail glade at the top of Holt's Ledge at the Dartmouth Skiway after a week of good snow.
Where would be the best location to get an introduction to skiing in glades? Should I get a glade specific lesson?
