It's official, we've got a couple of little skiers.

Our six year old just started "getting it" at the end of last ski season.  She followed up with a fantastic summer on the dirt bike (started jumping!!)

Just last week she was really excited to get back on the skis and as luck would have it, we got dumped on.

It was the first snow and our property doesn't have enough base yet, so we took to the roads around our house.  It's 95% second homes and so the roads are empty this time of year.  They are private roads, so this is all legal as far as I know lol.

She skied her little butt off... Friday night, all day Saturday and 1/2 of Sunday.   Over 50 runs in total ~ 15 miles.  She's ready for the resorts, which means we (mum and dad) get to join in the fun.... instead of playing lift operator.  It's going to be a great year and all the hard work we've put in over the years has payed off.   Little sis was also in on the action on Sat/Sun.  Mum got in serious trouble for tracking out her powder when running beside her. "GET OUT MY POW MOMMIE!!!"

The Forester XT makes for a great ski lift.  We hammered out the runs quicker than any resort!

you've done it now, you know the next thing you will have to get is a snow cat, that Forrester isn't going to cut it for these kids. they are hooked, great pictures have a fun year skiing with the little rippers

Thanks, the kids are really looking forward to going to a real resort.  I think a snow cat might be out of the question, but when the kids get older I really want to get into the back country with a couple of sleds.  I'm just not a big fan of crowds and fighting every inch of the way just to (maybe) get a few powder runs.

Kids just can't hike/pedal very far when they're young, but they learn skills quickly.  Motors just make a lot of sense for children.  They can fast forward all the aerobic bits and concentrate on developing skills.  My 6 year old daughter lacks the strength to pedal her BMX for very long, but will ride the track on her electric moto for 3-4 hours.  She started jumping a few months back and I know there is no way that would have happened on her BMX.

So very cool for you and kids .. but I would lie if I didn't say I was envious that you're out in Co where you and kids can hit hills whenever you please.

But very very cool .. and mountain biking seems to plug the old saying that folks visit for the skiing/winter but stay for the summer!

The helmet on your daughter is just great!
