First tune of the season

Thread Starter

I set up my shop a week or two ago, changed it over from a bike repair area.

Today I tuned my skis, as I hope to be on snow Friday or Saturday.

Cleaned out the bases.

Filed and diamond stoned the side edges.

Base renew, hot scrape.

Dominator Graphite zoom. iron in - and later on scraped and brushed.

Skis are sharp and shiny.   Listened to jazz while tuning.   Felt great.

That is all.

I'll get there in the next few days. My buddy's skis and a pair of mine will be back from their base grind tomorrow, leaving lots of time to tune/sharpen and wax & wax & wax before my first day out on Friday. biggrin.gif

You must do a little dance to the music once the tune is finished as you gaze upon the shiny beauty!

My Mt. won't open until Nov. 26th.  I have done the dance many times already though!  Stay feeling great!

Printed out my check lists..

Been busy restoring a tablet that went haywire, so tuning has been low on the list. Must get going.

Planning to start this next weekend. Hoping for snow soon!

No tuning yet, but last night I gave some nice doses of wax to a freshly ground pair of skis that turned out to be nicely tuned but still quite thirsty, and waxed another pair that simply needs a colder wax than the base prep I left on it last spring. What a pleasure! roflmao.gif I was looking forward to doing some sharpening, but the shop did a lovely tune on the newly ground skis, and the other pair was only skied once or twice since its last tune, so I guess the stones and files can stay where they are for now.

Ah, life is good!
