Suggestions of where to book a condo in Chamonix for Christmas week?

Thread Starter

I know that it is very late to be booking an apartment, but we already have a hotel room reserved (refundable) but didn't realize that we will need a kitchen. We are now looking to switch our reservation and book a condo/apartment, any suggestions as to where we can look for good, cheaper prices? We are two adults and all we will be doing is skiing...

Thank you!

If you are a Cham regular or just an occasional visitor, this website will be of great service to you. A lot of local chatter, last minute vacancies, season rental scurrying ... a lot of lost dogs and that type of stuff too. It is really active and the chatter will fill up your email.

It might be worth trying some of the accommodation sites listed on the Ski Club of GB site http://www.skiclub.co.uk/skiclub/skiresorts/resortintro.aspx#.VGoawdjAMct. Down to the right, after the list of trips to the resort and tour operators, there's a list of companies where you can book accommodation.

+1 on CerevralVortex suggestion.  We found a studio that way last March.

I have been watching the weather patterns in the region and might suggest that you be open to staying a bit farther away from the premier lifts. The reason is that long range forecasts are for some of the most severe winter conditions in the past 50 years to be hitting Europe this winter. I'm a skier inclined toward the most challenging terrain - the highest, the steepest, the deepest. But I will caution you that some upper lifts might be closed during the holiday period due to high wind.

Consider Megeve as an option. It is close by and it shares a lift ticket with Chamonix. The terrain does not equal the big stuff in Chamonix, but lifts seldom shut down. There are more trees. There's less whiteout. There's still enough steep to scare.

You should be able to find something through here http://www.chamonet.com/apartments/

But it will be at the regular price. The days leading up to Dec 26th are usually not fully booked but it gets real bust after that.

You could try posting on www.snowheads.com a European version of Epic Ski.

You'll love Chamonix. It's a great set of mountains and hopefully you'll have great snow too.

CW :-)
