Taos 2014-15: kachina grooming?

Jane and I are pretty sure we'll do our trip to New Mexico this season - a long weekend in Santa Fe to visit her family, and then north to Taos or Pagosa-Wolf Creek. We like the vibe at Taos but we're in our 70s and mainly interested in cruising and we certainly don't hike anywhere for turns and the less bumps the better. (I think you can see why I don't post on TGR).
The new lift on Kachine would make Taos much more attractive for us IF some of the terrain is going to be groomed. Any idea of the area's plans for Kachina?

I skied Taos last year and hiked Kachina Peak, it was fantastic.  Taos is a great laid back place with lots of groomers and piles of expert skiing.  My wife really enjoyed herself, she is an intermediate skier and never felt over her head. I had the pleasure of skiing with the head of the ski school.

I asked him about the new lift, he said the ski patrol will be there up alot more now. It will definitely be skied more often and will more than likely result in bumps all over the place.  Grooming is not part of the plan at all.  I see it being just another ski run.  It was really nice while it lasted.

Have a great trip

I wouldn't expect much grooming on Kachina, but I would hope that you'd stop by at SF and we could take a run this time. wink.gif

I hope so too. The visit to the shack and the bluebird day were the high points of the trip. I was glad to see that I could still function at 12,000 ft. The snow made me feel right at home - I'm from PA, remember. The next day I came down with norovirus and we had to abort our trip to Taos right after we arrived. The snow there looked pretty shiny too, so I don't think I missed much. Gotta be better this year.
