On my way from NZ with a couple of little problems...

Hi

I'm nearly there.

To get ready I had footbeds made- awesome, whoops pressure on outside (bone by little toe).

Boot blown (twice).

Still flaring a little when I ski a weekend (with a summit hike).

I can put up with quite a bit.

Probably try to see a bootfitter in Silverthorne.

Who / where would I go.

Any recommendations?

Thanks.

more info please:

What kind of boot---what brand---what size---what size feet

When hiking does the boot have a free flex (AT) release, or is it an Alpine boot.

What circumference calf muscles at top of liner----big calf pushes toes forward in shell.

Fisher x120, size 28.5.  The Level9 ones.

I prefer it over my last boots - Dalbello Krypton Rampage.

The hike to the top of Ruapehu (above Turoa) is 400metres vert, it"s pretty steep, 45-50mins hard out slog, kicking some steps into ice. I did it to get fit for Colorado.

When I got the footbeds made there was a bit of a focus on a previous problem I had with pressure points on inner ankle point (which I solved with a donut).  Because of this I went to a podiatrist and wear orthotics now- all to improve the ski day.  So when the footbeds were made I lifted my big toe and a slight off angle was introduced to the sole level.

I'm in Silverthorne for 6 weeks and hope to be well sorted by the end of it.  I just do not want to get that "I can't ski because of this pain!" thing.

I do intend to ski everyday.

Look up Greg Hoffman (Vale Sports) over in Vale (not sure He is there yet, he "summers" over in North Carolina), A 20 minute drive to get the best just makes sense to me.

Awesome, thanks.

Yes, the feet count for quite a bit in skiing.
