Thank you! Thank you! I hope to get my copy soon. I just queried Skipress Mag. about the possibility of writing either of 2 different articles. They need to see a clip before they will even look at my work.
BTW, this article has an interesting history. When Nolo had her Hyperchange Cafe site, someone had posted a topic regarding feedback about the PSIA web site. I had just read an archived article on the site about ski fitness. In polite, or perhaps less than polite terms, I remarked that the fitness information was about as current as a pair of 200cm straight skis. Nolo suggested that I write an article myself.
My first submission received an enormous amount of criticism. Aside from my articles in the supporters lounge and on my website, I was a writing newbie. And they wanted pictures. So one year later, armed with a digital camera, I coerced my co-workers to pose for me. Then one night, I sat down at the computer, and began a re-write. 4,865 words later, the sun was about to come up, and I had what I thought was a finished "article".
This time, there was only a small amount of criticism. But there was one major problem: It was too long. But since the editors described my style as "fluid and continuous" it was difficult to cut it down. From what I've read of the final draft, they did a good job. But the article was truly "cut to the core".
The extra information is currently serving a higher purpose, as I await the 3-4 month response time for my manuscript proposal!
