This monster storm is supposed to be a Polar Vortex on steroids.  I heard a report this AM temps could be 30* below norm.

(ok, so lets see if it amount so anything....;).)

Whoa ..... typhoons in the Bering Sea, dogs sleeping with cats, toast landing butter-side up.  When will it all end?!?!?

Great: the mid-west freezes, and the the west bakes; it may all average out, but oh, those damn extremes!

Its just unfortunate that this storm comes right in the middle of the Alaskan king crab season. As great a start as this is for us skiers, let's not forget that this will likely be a storm with a death toll. I just hope everybody up there found safe harbor before it rolled in.

Sounds like the Midwest and east will be the biggest ski season beneficiaries on this one.

That looks like it's on a collision course with the place where I was fishing a month ago.

I'm going to watch this page the next few days to see if things turn really bad:

Pilot Point, Alaska.  A very remote and kind of desolate place, but beautiful in its own way.  Right on the edge of Bristol Bay, which opens out into the Bering Sea.
