Reading on Base Structure

Thread Starter

Looking to get some info on base patterns and what they are good for. More of the why than the "this is best for this" line. We got a nicer tune machine this year and I want to understand what I'm putting skis rather than just knowing setting 5 is for customers, use 7 in the spring, and only use 29 on race skis. For that matter anything about tuning techniques would be nice from a technical side.

What brand and model of machine are you using? What region are you from?
The same variables that are used in wax selection, can be applied to structure selection. The type of ski is also a factor as well - ie: sl gs sg dh fr.
You should have a manual with the machine that thoroughly explains the variables in different structures. The field techs for the machine are usually a great resource for info.
