Epic Pass Skiers? (Vail, Keystone, Breck, A-Basin) [Beaver Creek]

Hey folks,

I'm new to the Rockies (live in the Vail Valley) and am looking to shred with some advanced skiers and/or boarders! I left most of my ski pals back east (Sugarloaf in Maine), so I'd love to meet some locals, Denver folks, whoever enjoys having an Epic Pass and hitting up the various resorts!

Hi Benlen- If you live in the Vail Valley, I would add Beaver Creek to your list (which you did implicitly by saying Epic Pass)...I work p-t at Vail and would be happy to make some turns with you, schedule permitting.

Hey MEfree30, can't believe I left out Beaver Creek (I've skied there before and love some of their steeps). It would be fantastic to take some turns with you as the resorts open up––what's your schedule usually like?

Hi I'm quite likely to be in the area for a skiing sabbatical for around 6-7 weeks from early Jan to Late Feb and would be delighted to take some turns.

On the same subject if anyone knows of anyone who might be looking at a short term room let (i.e extra cash for winter bills without the drama of a permanent roommate/tenant,)  between Dillon & Eagle/Gypsum I'm interested.

fatbob, fantastic! Would love to meet up for some turns, let's make it happen.

I will be doing the migratory thing like fatbob, but for months of Feb and Mar. Spending much of that time skiing Vail Resorts. Will be looking for friendly people to make tracks with. I'm age 60+ and single black diamond skill level, but can hang with most folks for at least a couple hours before they get sick of my jabbering and lollygagging for photo ops. Will refer to threads like this for possible contacts. Thanks for starting.
Skied Sugarloaf last March with some EpicSki members and had a blast: http://www.epicski.com/a/sugarloaf-me-a-pictorial

Cool JamesJ––I'd love to use this thread to start a group (or a few groups) who would like to try skiing together!

Jim can rip some pretty good turns. Per some PSIA folks who ain't his son. And per me.

Look him up for some turns where ever he ends up.

In addition to some great stories on the lift rides up.

Good folks.

Things seem pretty tight this year on the Vail side with the World Championships in Feb, but I MIGHT be able to connect you with someone in Summit...PM me.

This thread is addressing people who will be skiing during this winter at some or all of the ski resorts offered through the EpicPass in Colorado, Utah and California (and two smaller ski areas in the mid-west).  Will you be making the trip from Seattle to those areas?

Details on EpicPass resorts:   http://www.snow.com/epic-pass/resorts.aspx

Yes, I'm in So. Calif. and have an Epic Pass mainly for Tahoe in early March, but would like to get away for a few days in CO in late Jan. or Early Feb.  Happy to turn some with other Epics here.  Late 50's, single blacks preferred until knee becomes a bother.

So anyone up for a ski day next week? I'm pretty flexible.

Fatbob, have you tried any of these?  Let us know what you think if you do.

Complimentary Mountain Ski/Snowboard Tours

During the winter season, Community Guest Service volunteers provide complimentary tours of Vail Mountain for any guest whose ability level is intermediate or above.

General Mountain Tours leave from the Game Creek Desk adjacent to the top of the Eagle Bahn Gondola and from the top of Gondola One at the Mid Vail Ski School desk each morning promptly at 10:30 a.m. It is highly recommended to get to either location by 10:15 as each participant will be required to sign a liability release form before the tour. Each tour is considered a “Familiarization Tour” of the mountain and should last about 2 hours.

The Blue Sky Basin tour begins at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from Henry’s Hut across from Patrol Headquarters (PHQ) at the top of Chair 4. Please arrive at Henry’s Hut by 10:45 to sign a release form. This tour is recommended for High level intermediate or above skiers or riders.

50+ Ski With Us tours are designed for skiers age 50 or older. These tours meet at 9:15 a.m. on Monday mornings at Gondoly's Pizza seating area at the top of the Eagle Bahn Goldola. Tours depart at 9:30 sharp and liability release forms must be signed before leaving. This is an all day tour that can go anywhere on Vail Mountain with a stop for lunch, usually at Two Elk. Four guides provide four skiing tours from advanced intermediate to expert levels of skiing. Join the 50+ tour for part of the day or for the full day and experience the epic skiing on Vail Mountain.
