Now it just remains to be seen how aggressive they are in opening terrain. Past management would never open the mountain earlier than Thanksgiving and would never open anything beyond the front face before Christmas no matter how much snow fell- and in several past seasons the best snow fell early season on closed terrain.

So far, this guy remains true to his word.

Also announced are local punch passes. These are cool!

So much win here. $50 buys you a day of skiing, and $60 skiing therafter- down to $35 at Sipapu.

Or, you cna buy a 6 punch pass card for $149- Sipapu and Pajarito tickets cost 1 punch, Purg and snowbowl 2 punches.

$229 gets you 10 punches. Not quite as good at Silverton, but still a good deal- 5 days at Purg for under $50.

These deals are better than ANYTHING offered by past management- and past management would ONLY offer discounted tickets outside of the area.

I saw on their website today that they added Skirama Dolomiti to their season pass, so now you can ski in Italy also.

I was out of town last weekend for the rail jam. Was snowbowl selling 3 packs again this year?

I would suspect all of those offers are rolled into this-

If that's the case, it looks like I'm going to the warren miller film in Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tempe

Latest Purg news is setting a Grand Opening for lift 8 at December 19th.

While I understand you have to complete the lift before you can spin it, that sounds a lot like past operating procedure of not opening the "backside" until Christmas.

Moving up opening to the weekend before Thanksgiving is nice, but Purg has enough snow to open a good amount of terrain today- and there is a lot of excitement.

In other Purg news, it looks like I will be spending a bit more time over at Purg this year- Tonight I'm attending orientation for the adaptive sports program. I intent to volunteer on Fridays and am really excited about it.

That sounds fantastic.  I'll be visiting my daughter and skiing Purg the first weekend in Feb.  We'll have to get together while I am there.

Do you get the free season pass for working 10 days in that program?

I don't think so. Now working 10 days (or something like that) gets you a "discounted" pass in the $300 range. I recall there being a bit of a kerfluffle when that went into effect last year.

I get a free lift ticket on volunteer days, which is all I need. My primary motivation is getting to hang out with a bunch of cool people and teach them to ski. I do know of several people in the program that are pretty ballsy skiers, so I anticipate plenty of opportunities to get all over the mountain, not to mention taking a few laps around times when I am providing direct assistance.

Skiing Purg, I will need to remind myself to be extra defensive about dodging people trying to brain me with the safety bar. I get that more at Purg than pretty much anywhere else... Must be a groomer zoomer thing,
