Volkl RTM84 vs Nordica FireArrow 84 Pro (not EDT) Opinions?

Thread Starter

Like to get some feedback from those who skied either one. I ski Western NY and take a trip or two out West.

I just looked at a subscription ski review website that I belong to called real skiers.

I also own the V-Werks 84. I have not skied the non-Verks model. Similar I am sure.

The Firearrow Pro (Not EDT)  got a score of 8.66, the RTM a 8.44. Both were well reviewed.

I love my V-Werks.  The Nordica sounds racier, fast, and aggressive. The RTM has a subtle full rocker.

Neither are powder skis, but the RTM may do better in light powder.

The review said while the EVO was not as racy as the EDT it was still stout.

Both sound good....edge to the Firearrow?

Any comments on the RTM84 vs V-Werks RTM ?

My ski pal is a Volkl guy -> AC40 for the last few seasons ( we only groomers out our way ).

He is now really hot to buy some V-Werks RTM ( without a demo ) to replace his AC40.

Not sure if they will make him happy for what he expects a Volkl ski to be

I have skied all three. For hard snow performance the FireArrow84 is the hands down winner, with the ski being full camber, the grip is positive and extemelly responsive. with it's short snub nose off piste and bumps is not its strength. The RTM84 is almost the exact opposite, better in crud and bumps than hard snow due to the lack of camber. The V-Werks is a better RTM, but still not the hard snow ski the FA84 is. It comes to, do you want a ski that is better for your 80%+ skiing in the east, then the FA would be the choice especially at $100.00 less.

I've skied the RTM 84 and the FA 84 EDT.  I was seriously impressed with how the RTM skied because my previous experience with two other full rockers skis was that I hated them in what were basically similar conditions.  As an all-around ski I didn't think it was nearly as good as my Nordica Steadfast.  As I understand it the FA84 Pro does not require the attention that the EDT demands.

I havent skied the RTM 84, just the V-Werks 84. I skied the AC 50, which was I believe

the model after the AC 40. Both were stiff and stout skis. The new Volkl skis are different,

but your friend should give them a try. The V-Werks have a special lightweight material.

He also may want to try to the Volkl Kendo.
