Recommendation for Dealer in NYC Area [10 years away from slopes, big and tall]

For many years, I skied quite often, and then I had to give it up about 10 years ago for career reasons.  I'm now in a place in my career when I can get back into it this winter and I am going to have to largely start over from an equipment perspective.

Any thoughts on a good dealer in the NYC area, particularly a good bootfitter?  My last pair of boots were a heavily modified pair of Tecnica ICON Alus that took a ton of work to get them to work properly on my feet.  Thanks in advance for all suggestions.

Also, if anyone has thoughts on good brands to look at for both boots and and skis, I'd appreciate it.  I'm a pretty big guy (6'4" and abotu 230lbs) with annoying feet.

Welcome to EpicSki!  I suggest you take look at this thread from a couple years ago.  Then come back and ask more specific questions.  Where did you use to like skiing?

I got fitted at Ski Windham's Boot Lab. Great experience. Mark is known for his fitting. As for skis and stuff? Paragon sports in NYC, or a well known shop for many years in Forest Hills: Emilios. Also, Sno-haus on LI(Huntington and Hempstead).

From the thread years ago and from entire family's feet its Keith at pro ski and ride,
MAKE A APPOINTMENT AS NOTED BY OTHERS !
Spent 2 plus hours there yesterday getting fitted with new orthotics, dialing in some new technica mach1's and some canting. Wife and I have done sure foot and other fitters but always come back home for his expertise.

NOTE: it's a big plus if your going to be skiing in the Catskills to be fitted at the pro or at Windham, if there is ant additional tweeking to be done you can always pop in during a ski day. Both shops also offer a full selection of skis, Keith does the full volkl , blizzard and head lines as well.

Good luck

Thanks to all.  When I used to ski regularly, it was mostly throughout Vermont.  These days, we shall see.
