My ability to figure conditions out proved limited once again this week. Monday, a hoped for light powder day, was instead a bit of dust on rock, for me. I didn't notice it much on the slope, but de-burring my skis last night I sure did.
By contrast, today, Wednesday, was super. Bluebird, no wind, manmade snow had widened the main drag and improved the whole slope. Many fewer people showed up, so that I no longer found myself half-wanting slalom skis. Great day, more runs.
For the first time, driving past Loveland they were making snow at the bottom. Lots of it. Must be trying to open. The upper area by lift 6 seemed already open for racers maybe. Dunno.
Oh, at the Basin, they were blowing snow on Ramrod in huge piles when I drove up this am. I was told by the snow crew and ski patrol, etc. that the goal was to open Ramrod on Saturday. They were moving around the snow with a cat much of the morning. It was looking good.
