Copper Mountain general question

Hi everyone,

I am looking at joining a local ski group for a trip to Copper Mountain in mid-February. I have never been, and I was wondering what the town/resort was like. I am a single guy about to turn 40, traveling with a group I don't really know. The trip is a good deal, and I'm sure I'll be happy with the skiing (I live in the mid-Atlantic, and my weekend ski trips are on 100 acre 750 ft drop "mountains"...). But I wonder what 5 nights/4 days there will be like off the slopes. I am not the biggest party animal, I'm not looking to be out all night every night, but a little something to be able to go to and mingle would be nice... Most of the reviews I see recommend it highly for families, and that doesn't quite apply. Any thoughts or feedback would be much appreciated.

 Thanks

There are a couple of really fun bars right there at Copper.   Places where you can get as wild as you want and there will be plenty of folks in there joining you.

Try and find someone else from your ski group who is also solo and hang with them for the first day.  If they are lame fine someone else.

Thanks! I also had a chuckle - that's good advice, drop them and find someone else if they're lame :)

You'll be fine....assuming you really aren't the biggest party animal....if you are Breck or Vail is the place for you to go.  You will be able to find like minded individuals at several places in the Copper complex but if you are looking for lots of women or mean to chase then Copper is not the place.  If you just want to go out and have a few drinks and chat about about whatever then you'll be fine.

Catch happy hour at JJ's in East Village when Moe Dixon is playing.  Great fun.

Plus Frisco is  7 minutes away; Breck 25.  You can drive or there is a free bus that loops.

All good advice to which I'll add a few thoughts:

Lefty Lucy is great for apre-ski at Jack's bar in center village.  I think she plays Wed-Sun, but check her schedule.

Copper's nightlife is extremely variable.  During busy times it's good, but in slow times it's really dead.   Weekends are, of course, much better, as are MLK, Pres weekend and Spring Break (most of March).

Just don't expect much and be happy if there is life in the village.   If not, hop on the free shuttle to Frisco or Breck.   Breck is one of the best ski towns for nightlife, so you might just plan a big night out there.   Just wait until later in your trip when you have acclimatized... and realize the available ladies will still be few and far between.  It is a ski town, after all.

If it gets Bore-ring @ Copper hop the Bus to Breckenridge, Check out the " BCC" 226 S. Main St. Breckenridge, Newest Tourist Attraction in the area, Make sure you bring Cash & Doritos!
