And a great friendship was created.

Yes,  and I figure everyone's on the edge of their seat waiting to see what I'll come up with for 4500

*shrug* they should have the safety bar down anyway, no?   :duck:

13 years, 1½ months for me. I'm not on much these days (much too busy with work), but I found this thread anyway! Unfortunately neither my 40+ day seasons nor my 54 month turns-all-year streak have survived this season either.

No idea how long for me - at one stage my account got messed up and it was only because of my memory that I knew my old membership number.

Well it's at least 13 years since you were in esa Brighton in 2003.

I always enjoy it when you pop in.  We recommend your article about Altitude Sickness on a regular basis.  Thanks for your contributions!

Thanks Trish- a bit has changed since the early days, hasn't it? I'm still doing some altitude research. We were in Bolivia for a field study at 17,300ft 2 summers ago, and I'll be at the hypoxia symposium in Lake Louise next week. And I miss the ESA every year!

Just had my 10th year in the forum... on the first of February.     It is a cool place - though I will admit most of the stuff is over my head.   I just ski and enjoy the wisdom.

My official 10th was actually yesterday. Epic was my first internet forum. Had some early forum growing pains (wicked trouble with trollls!) but learned many valuable lessons in internet life and skiing here!

I'm not worthy of my own thread so I am just going to continue tagging on to this thread created my friend SkiMangoJazz who was my first greet/meet and ski on epic and became my best non family member ski bud ever!

Thanks to all my Epic friends who helped me along the way - I took more from this forum than I gave that is for sure!

This is a fine place and I am happy to see it rolls on.

(Actually it's on our profile pages.)

Not totally correct because some of us who joined before the first bunch of site rebuilds didn't get assigned corrected join dates. I'm reported by the current software as starting in 2004, I believe, but I actually began participating several years earlier.

And I still associate you with Traverse City!  (Where I lived in a teepee once.)

In the teepee at the State Park with an Indian lady?

A friend had a teepee with a wood floor and a brass post bed somewhere in the country maybe 5-10 miles out of Traverse City.  I stayed there for a week or so around 1971.

Was that a year-round residence?

I think so. He had a wood floor, brass bed and woodstove.

Were you a kid then?

I remember a place somewhat like your description in the woods southeast of town by maybe eight or ten miles.

This would have been 1970 I believe.  I have no recollection of the name of the guy though.  He had two sisters who would have been about 19 and 18 at that point in time.  I was 18.

I've learned to keep my mouth shut (for the most part) and learned a lot about communication as well.

At one point I was very involved in helping the leadership, as I was honored to be a part of the private Advisory Board.  After being let go from that and watching some of the ownership changes and drama, and commercialization of the site (but not that bad really) I've stopped "volunteering" my advise.  Place seems to run pretty well without it!

Thanks for being here epic.

My first day on epic and seeing users who have been here for 10 years is crazy! One day ;)

Welcome to Epic.  There are those of us who keep checking in, and that creates a sort of community even if we live thousands of miles apart.

Others live close enough to each other to ski together.

Maybe you'll keep checking in, too.

Some like @dchan are still active after 15 years.

Yeah, my original join date got lost in the big software jumble. It was within the first year of Epic.

That was what 98?

And some of us have only been active for a couple years, but it feels like 10 years. :D

Welcome @TjBakewell ... I hope you enjoy the site as much as I have.
