2. Your roads are in good condition
3. You don't get much snow
The low profile tyres, oversized wheels, lowered/stiffened suspension and the sideskirts means that it isn't that good if you live on a dirt track or need to get through deep water/snow.
back to you... if you can't get a good diesel engine in the Tiguan, then I'd probably go with the Q5, but the Q5 is not as practical a car in terms of off road/rough terrain capability.
The comment earlier about the back seat of the allroad being too small for most adults - well, I'd say that's not true unless you're talking about obese adults, or a drive who drives with the seat horizontal. More space in the back than the BMW 3 or X3. Easy room for 2 adults in the back (not great for 3, but that's the price for having quattro)
