This, and the rest of your post, are just an attempt at misrepresentation and misdirection. You know full well that the essence of my response to you wasn't about your skiing (nor about fat skis vs. skinny), it was about the following -- something for which you don't want to take any responsibility (hence your skiing distraction):
I've said it before on Epic, and I'll say it again: I understand that if someone takes a swing at you in a bar because he doesn’t like the shirt you’re wearing, it’s understandable to swing back. What’s not reasonable is to be the guy that’s swinging in the first place, which is what you’ve chose to do here. As I believe in the value of civil discourse, I’d prefer it if “swinging first” were frowned upon - and that those who do, get called on it.
You're the guy that chose to swing first -- you didn't like my shirt. And yeah, I swung back, but in a pretty mild way: I'd like to be able to post about this topic without having guys like you throw spitballs at me. So I simply linked a thread you started, and I asked how you would feel if equivalent spitballs were thrown at you there.
It's really about personal responsibility: You choose the action, you choose the consequences. If you're going to take a swing at someone, don't whine about the fact that someone swings back.
Anyways, I hoped my reply would get through to you, but apparently it didn't. So let me make it more explicit: From what I've seen, you don't actually want to contribute substantively to this thread. You just want to to be verbally abusive to those who are trying to have a discussion here, either through sarcasm, or through blanket put-downs, e.g., that what we've been saying is "truly stupid" (your words). If that's what you want to keep doing, please just leave. There are lots of discussions here on Epic. You're not going to think all of them are useful. No one is. And it's not your job, nor your call, to arrogantly presume to serve as the arbiter of which discussions are worthy and which aren't. That's why we have thousands of different threads! Behavior like yours -- where you try to poison any discussion you don't like with sarcasm and insults -- is toxic. Please stop.
And yes, I think the two (or really three) camps here can learn from what the other has to say -- if they're willing to listen. I couldn't have written this earlier post, which was received positively by those on both sides, without having listened carefully to what those holding views different from mine were saying: http://www.epicski.com/t/129323/rant-overselling-wide-skis/840#post_1782941. I doubt you've been listening well enough to be able to understand (not agree with, but simply articulate) mine. If you were, you would understand that my example of the slalom skis (which I've also skied in lighter conditions, I just don't have a picture) is not the "back-door brag" you erroneously believe.
