Folks, there's a butt ton of fantastic gear out there. Yes ghost, including a bunch of great piste skis. Some have a bit of early rise, some have full blown marketing early rise. There are 88's that have very good edge grip. As good as a full on race ski or high performance carver with a good tune? No, but very good nonce the less. There are 98-100's that rip piste better than race skis did in the 1980's. 110+ skis are great fun on a powder day.
Seems most comments on this thread are about validating/pontificating on one's own point of view. On God's green earth, I'll never understand why people for a moment give a rats rear what others ski on.
What I find, and sure as hell don't expect anyone else to agree with, is that I'm falling out of love with the 98-100's. The right 80 something does everything a 98 does and is more responsive edge to edge. At a certain point its about the characteristics of particular skis than it is about width alone. That said, I have no plans to NOT ski a 118 when the conditions are right.
