Hi - I am loking to purchase new skis for my 12 yo daughter who of course is growing like a weed (new skis as in new for her but I am looking at 2014 demo skis). She is currently bw 5'2" - 5'3" and will likely top out around 5'8" - 5'9". Looking for some good all mountain East Coat (PA, NY, VT) skis that will last two years (the younger sister will inherit them at that point thus hope to get 3-4 years out of these skis).
She is moving up from "kid" skis (130 Nordica Infinite Jr) which she used the last few years. My 8 yo daughter is moving into the 130s.
I was thinking of purchasing the K2 Superglide in a 146. Its a jump of 16cm from last year and the waist will be much wider (80 vs 66).
She is a solid intermediate skier, does groomed blacks in VT and is just starting to venture off piste. That said, 80% of our sking will be groomers oftentimes Camelback in the Poconos which will oftentimes be very scratch/icey.
First question, does this ski sound like a good fit?
One concern I have based on reading reviews of this ski (esp on Ski Diva) is that several reviewers thought that the ski was "heavy"...not in feel but in actual weight. I cannot find weight specs anywhere...is this a heavy ski? I thought it would be somewhat light because it doesnt have much metal.
