how many days at what areas?

Thread Starter

I haven't seen this exact thread before so forgive me if it is a duplicate. I was thinking about this today as the first winter like storm moved through Park City. Supposed to be snow at the highest elevations this weekend. There have been plenty of "how many days you got?" and I am sure some of the answers included where the days were earned but they all seem to have been for the current year. But this is a more explicit question. How many days you estimate you have at which areas over your entire life. Most of these are rough estimates for me and you can probably guess some of the places I have lived. I consider myself to have been very fortunate as far as access to skiing. I think I have a bit over a 1000 days total.

300 days at Bogus Basin

6 at Sun Valley

4 at Brundage Mountain

70 days at Snowbird

80 days at Alta

90 days at Solitude

4 days at Brighton

4 days at Snowbasin

1 day at Powder Mountain

40 days at PCMR

25 days at Deer Valley

30 days at Park West/Canyons

4 days at Telluride

150 days at Wolf Creek

200 days at Ski Santa Fe

12 days at Taos

1 day at Squaw Valley

2 days at Steamboat

1 day at Winter Park

3 days at Breckenridge

6 days at Vail

6 days at Beaver Creek

1 day at Monarch

1 day at Crested Butte

1 day at Silverton

4 days at Purgatory

2 days at Bachelor

4 days at Mt. Hood Meadows

1 day at Timberline

plus some days at area in Southern California and small areas in Ohio and western New York

If you know that, you may be even more anal than I am. I'm sure I could come up with it, but much of the areas I've skied no longer exist. By some chance do you also know the total vertical? ūüėĀ Is it all in a pivot table or a database?

All I know is I have 1386 days. Figuring the rest out would take longer than I want to spend. I can see I'll have to move that info from the comments field into a computational field in order to compete. ūüėÖ

I have skied at least about 10 days every winter since 1967.  I have about 400 days at Blue Knob, PA and 1 to 15 days at ~84 other ski areas in North America and Europe totaling maybe another 400 days for a wild guess of about 800 lifetime ski days.

Actually I had never really thought about it that hard until today. I don't really keep close track but have a pretty good idea of how many days a year I have skied total each of the last 35 years or so and where I skied those years. Mostly because people are always asking "how many days ya got?". In the old days at Bogus Basin they used to put a little sticker on your season pass every time you logged a day. It was a badge of honor to have your pass practically covered with stickers by the end of the year.

It was a college ski club bus trip and most days the buses only went to Norquay. There was one day that Sunshine or LL was available but I was either too hungover or too clueless and didn't sign up.

I was wondering about that too.

Almost everyone just skis Louise and Sunshine but Norquay is a good 1/2 day workout if you like bumps.

So, you were tracking your vertical from day one? I, at least, grew into it. I was too busy the day I learned (and years thereafter) surviving.

I bow down before the awesomeness of the Data King
post #16 of 20

I never skied before age 23 and age 26 was my first serious season.  In 1978-79 I tracked vertical as a means of measuring progress from low intermediate to moderately advanced over the course of that 30 day season.  It was not difficult to estimate the 17 prior days as I was mostly a beginner and not able to ski that much each day.

you must be fun at parties

All those places and you've never skied at Stevens Pass.  :nono: Your loss. :rolleyes

Let's see, I got on skis the first time in 1944 or '45.  That's all I know about "how many days at what areas?" and as you can see I don't even know what year I started.   Pretty sure I woulda skied more days and more areas if I coulda.
