Team Toe Pain,
Thanks for everyone sharing their experiences. As a 42 year-old, active, aspiring-athlete I have had toe pain for 25+ years. Roughly 20 years ago I had a cheilectomy and 15 years ago I had a second cheilectomy on the same right big toe. I found almost no relief from the cheilectomy. I experienced pain during trail running, tennis/squash, telemark skiing, hiking, etc. The pain increased beyond playing sports & post sports so much that it hurt simply getting out of bed.
On 9/3/14 I had a Toe Fusion of the right big toe. I feel remarkably well right now. The pain is pretty moderate, I ditched the crutches and am not sure I even need the ski pole I am now using. I still use the stylish post-surgery boot foot. I am beginning to wiggle & crunch the toes to encourage strength.
If anyone has advice how to expedite recovery & return to full strength, I welcome your advice please?
Finally if anyone has experience returning to aggressive Telemark skiing after toe fusion, I welcome your advice as well please?
