High T is still decent--just past the whoop-de-doo was skiing well a few days ago although finding my way out was tricky. I think the best way might be the gully (Ward Creek stream bed I assume--unless it's melted out. Upper Saddle was good yesterday traversing over onto South Face west side there was a pretty clean line down to the cat track. South Face itself was good past west gully and the last grove of trees. They've been moving a lot of snow to keep the cat tracks (there are now several) and loading area open. Props to KSL for doing that for the small number of people making the hike over the top. The Sherwood groomers are toast, except for the route back to the front side. Looks like clouds last night have kept temps above freezing from base to summit, and it's cloudy this morning here at Donner Lake, so conditions may suck today.i
Sometimes rain, sometimes snow. Depends on how cold is the system that the AR gets sucked into.
Refers to straightened out Jetstream across the wide Pacific that usually allows those high altitude winds to also increase in speed. That does increase winds being drawn up from the south so related PE events are more likely.
Best site for Jetstream which is very useful to understand together with forecasts.
Don't put much value into day to day changes in long range forecasts beyond vague possibilities. Until about 5 days out details of forecast even in this era vary too much in forecast models.
Yes, guys I understand what a AR and Pineapple Express is, I have lived through some major ones in Tahoe. Was trying to make a joke on low coffee.
