As it's still silly season & I've actually been picking up some useful intel on the underrated thread - what resorts are rated about right or rated for something which masks the something else which they should equally be rated for.
I'll kick off with A$pen. I skied there for the first time last season and was mentally prepared by the hype and reputation versus reality but found it actually lived up to the reports of the rich and fabulous being at least matched by a core (although probably slightly longer standing) ski bum and ski enthusiast population. On hill food stops seemed to have a less corporate feel than many too. Terrain didn't disappoint either and the lift set ups seemed to work very well. I'd still have reservations about shelling out day ticket rates but at least felt that there was more bang for the buck than others in the stratospheric bucket.
