I really enjoyed today. First day ever skiing at Steamboat. The bottom was kind of like cement, but once I got up top, I had a lot of fun. Just enough left over powder and hero bumps. Luckily cooler up top, but gorgeous.

The views were gorgeous.

Nice, given lateness of season ... will you get your 46+ days in?  Close?

@pete, I should delete that--46 days isn't going to happen this season. Had major emergency abdominal surgery which killed the first half of the season so I didn't really start skiing a lot until February. I'll be at 17 once this trip is over. Will probably get around 30--depending on how long A-Basin is open.

man,  tough few years in there with ACL and abdominal .. but being Midwest, not hitting west but once and locally my only free days on local small hills were sub 0 or single digits .. I'd be happy with 17. The season just slipped by completely for me as did last.  30 sounds pretty good

And I keep telling people that the weather sucks in Colorado so they won't move here.

It is deceptive from the bottom, but once you get up top, it's a whole different world!

I wouldn't mind being able to have a full ski season, but I just have to remind myself that things could have turned out much worse. OneRepublic's "I Lived' has become my theme song. A doc I know put that dang seed in my head that he always has to ski as many days as he is alive--sounds like a great goal! I guess I got caught up in trying to hit that number especially since I had invested in two passes. I've gotten my money's worth, and will ski A-Basin until the end minus a few weekend commitments.

Hey what a fun AM today with @rx2ski !  We had some fantastic spring snow!!!!!  The groomers and bumps were amazing and the ridge was still holding soft light snow.  FUNNNNNN.  Skiing tomorrow if anyone is around.

First, @Finndog absolutely rocks! Thank you for the tour of the mountain. We got a ton of skiing done in a couple of hours.

I wound up watching an amazing mogul competition with truly world class competition.

Met up with old friends that I had not seen in 20+ years. What a day!

Overheated in the sun and having a mellow Friday night. Can't wait for tomorrow!!!

Thanks again, @Finndog. Was really great to ski with the whole group--@COSkiGirl, Tam, and Gary.

Hard decision to break away and watch aerials, but we did get a good few hours in.

LEAD Technologies Inc. V1.01

Aerials were amazing. Need to find a place to upload the winning jump.

What a fun spring snow weekend! Saturday hit 65* on the mountain sunny but sticky even with warm-wet wax.  Still had about 4 hours of good skiing.,  Sunday was awesome, skied with @rachelv and lapped some great groomers, slush bumps and and timed some great corn snow here and there.  I hadn't skied with her in a  while and it was great to catch up.  Never got sticky yesterday but sunny and warm. I missed the free style finals but the base area was like a big party.  First appearance of bikini skiing, lots of folks in tee-shirts and shorts. Lots of folks dressed up in costumes and several "cougars" for cougar day.   Bands were playing outdoors at base area pubs.  I rediscovered how good "Peroni" beer is.  I think we cleaned out the Paramount's (great restaurant at the base) stock.

So next season, the Front rangers need to get up here prior to a good storm and hit it when its at its peak.  @rachelv - then we can really ski "my favorite" trees  :D  no, really!!

Just got back from my first trip to Steamboat. Great resort! Really high temps provided some interesting conditions both days but we still managed to find some good areas at the right time with some help from locals. Really enjoyed Barley downtown. Here is to hoping we can get in a weekend next year when temps are under 60 degrees at the summit :)

I was talking to my dad about Steamboat today and he asked if it was my new favorite area. I haven't even skied any Champagne Powder, but I'm thinking it could definitely wind up in my top 3.

It feels so weird after skiing there with 50+ degree weather and coming home to high 70s. I have plenty of skiing planned for April and May, but for some reason I feel like I just skied closing weekend.

Mmmm. Peroni. Hoping to grab one in Italy in a few weeks too. I think I'll alternate 1 Peroni, 1 Italian wine, 1 cappuccino. Repeat.
