The patrol I work on isn't NSP-affiliated, so I pretty much quit reading after that.

The politics of patrolling are significant. When you're a volunteer, it can be particularly off-putting. It can make it difficult to be more "giving" of your time, and when dues increase yet you see little in the way of benefit for that, it gets tough to stomach at times.

 

It's a good thing the friendships are there. Without it, I would have hung it up permanently a few years ago.
