3 layer Gore tex, eVent or similar. Must be able to withstand all day rain.
2 chest pockets zippered
2 hand Warner's zippered
Helmet hood with one hand adjustments
One inside stash pocket
One inside zipper pocket
One sleeve (pass) pocket
Most of those features are readily available on ski jackets with insulation. I don't want insulation. I want a shell. Also, I would prefer to not look like I stole a jacket from a clown or a raggedy ann doll. I don't mind a little flash with highlights, but I'm more on the conservative side. I'm fine with bright colors, but don't care for patch work.
I would prefer for it to be somewhat reasonable even if only reasonable for ski wear.
The Descente BC jacket seems to fit the bill but it's $700!
I really like the Helly Hansen Odin Mountain but it doesn't have any inside pockets. It does have everything else though. Right now it is at the top of my list, especially since I get a Special pricing at HH from being a veteran.
Arc'teryx I believe had one but again, $700 area.
Some of the sites I looked at I had a hard time getting useful (to me) information. Some showed nothing on the inside of the jacket and only provided basic information. Descente's site is like that. I guess they are expecting you to buy their stuff because it says Descente.
I looked at a couple European brands. Again it was a mix of either big money or little information.
I appreciate any tips or recommendations. The primary use is skiing but I tend to wear my shells all year. I do have a two layer basic inexpensive shell for day to day running around so this could be dedicated to skiing. I need one that will keep me on the mountain when everyone else is going inside for their second change of clothes.
