Speaking of who's first out of the gate, I wonder what Copper was like on Saturday. Anybody there?
That was the day of Copper's big U.S. Ski Team Announcement and Celebration Party (in the afternoon), when members of this year's men's and women's A, B and C Teams--and D team, were officially named and introduced to the public. Team members were there to meet and greet, and sign autographs.
On the evening news, the anchors were pointing out Bode Miller, Ted Ligety and Andrew Weibrecht on the men's side, and Julia Mancuso, Lindsey Vonn smiling and Mikaela Shiffrin waving on the women's side, along with the other team members.
It was reported that three to four thousand people showed up.
As the news wire service said, "Huge crowds turned out for the formal announcement of the 2014-15 U.S. Alpine Ski Team at the Nature Valley First Tracks festivities at Copper Mountain ."..http://alpine.usskiteam.com/news/team-named-copper-mountain (This includes the ski, boot and binding sponsers of each team member.)
Way down the list are the two women and five men named to the National Development (D) Team.
