You mean I'm not supposed to be able to edit posts from last year? I thought it was a feature. ūüėČ

There was a big dust-up about ancient edits a few years ago. I only saw it from the sidelines but I remember comprex going back and messing up a lot of his old posts to prove a point.

I don't remember off hand the exact number, but I believe non-Passholders cannot edit posts after submitting (or the window is only like 10 minutes), but Passholders have I think 2 hours to edit a post. The @ mention function I believe is limited to 5 or 10 per day for non-passholders but like 100 for passholders. Also access to the Passholder area, the more valuable part of that is the classic threads/article collection in the passholder area with some older but valuable technique discussions from the early days of the site when a majority the posters were certified instructors.

:ahijack: Just on a whim I went back and was able to edit a post I made originally on 9/9/14...

Are you sure you successfully editted it? Could you send me a link to the post please? According to the tools I have the only posts you've edited recently are post 118 yesterday and then the one before that was a full day before you told me you edited a post on 9/9 if you did edit it it's not registering in the system.

Edit: I found the post in question, something weird is going on. I've reported it as a bug.

OMG this entire thread, but especially ^^^ this bit ^^^ is just way, way too much like being at work. My favorite is when you call the help desk with an issue related to having inadequate permissions to do something, and you end up with LESS authority than you started out with when you called because the issue you reported got people asking questions and then doing a whole boatload of hasty rearguard butt-covering. (I guess that's just what "rearguard" means, now that I think of it.) Tyler, just log off for the day. Enjoy yourself. Have a mango or something. Let little birds alight on your shoulder. :)

EDIT: Tyler, I'm not accusing you of butt-covering, at all. Just saying that sometimes looking the other way for a while is okay.

Oh my.

I'm wishing this topic could open up with real options, again.

I can't blame you, i really try to ignore the political stuff but I have learned, it's like a buffet, take what you want and leave the rest.

Just like someone resurrected dinosaur fossils..

Can't ignore threads, but you can ignore people!   I've never used the ignore feature but some people have had me right on the edge of considering it.

I'm an adult.  I can do this.  I think.

I know.  I almost clicked on that evolution thread.  But no.

I'm with you here Phil, not because I like the option, but just because it's probably the least bad one.

Confess I had my own little rant on Facebook this morning in the wake of the election results last night. Presumably my right-wing friends will forgive me and life will go on.

I can support that too Sib!

I come here to talk about skiing, and things related to it. I like to keep it nice, so I stay away from Hot Topics.
