That's what's left me scratching my head. The Michelin Xice XI2 are supposedly unique among snow tires in that they do very well on pavement and last a really long time. Supposedly the other end of the spectrum from the Blizzaks. So I'm surprised to see the tread has gone down so much in 11-12k miles.
Perhaps the tire treads wear more quickly at the beginning, and deterioration slows down over time? I'd hope so.
Or perhaps it is a myth that really soft snow compounds actually last a long time, and people tend to overstate their length because they spent a bunch of money on the notion.
4/32's is not much wear over 11K for a soft compound, and this winter was warm around town. I've gone through 20/32's in 25K.
