You poor baby =P
Quick, disorganized edit of some A-Basin footage. Didn't go in the morning like I hoped. They got 3 inches overnight which softened things up. I didn't add any music so that you can hear the snow. I skied from 2 until close then skinned up to the top. It was dumping by the time I left just after 6. Kind of weird, I've never experienced altitude sickness when hiking up the east wall or hike-to terrain at Breck, but halfway up high noon I had a moderate headache. I pounded some water from my camelback and it went away so I'm assuming I was just dehydrated.
Time sounds about right, as I had just missed the cutoff to hike up the staircase (Closes at 2:30), so I went back and skied LoG again. I have a tear on my black jacket from getting snagged on a tree at Loveland last week.
What kind of outerwear were you wearing? And you should've said something! :)
Just watched the last two videos of the Basin and WP. Thanks for making it even harder to decide on where to go this weekend. :)
Seriously, those looked great. Excited for this weekend--wherever I go. At least traffic shouldn't be like last weekend.
I know I'm posting this in two threads, but thought it was relevant....
Al feels quite confident about the June 7th closing date:
How am I supposed to get any w@rk done with forecasts like that?
Yesterday at A-Basin:
Plenty of snow on the East Wall
Willie's Wide. I didn't hike; the skiing below the traverse was plenty for me.
This lead to ...
Fresh deep tracks if you cared to make them.
There was a bit of a haze off in the distance.
All in all the skiing was really nice. Groomers were easy to ski hard and fast. The trees I skied in 'zuma held up until 2 pm when it started to feel a bit heavy; it probably froze up and won't be soft until it snows again or warms up. The last run was down National and Turbo. Good edge-able snow with a few rocks to keep you honest.
Two different sized monitors would drive me up a wall, I'm even annoyed that one of my monitors is silver and the other is black... just looking at yours makes me uncomfortable! And nice barn mug by the way, I know that view very well...
LOL! stuff like that doesn't bother me and since I am the one paying for it, left over monitors are just fine with me. I would rather spend the money on skis! You can buy the barn mugs at the steamboat shop downtown I think. That mug has survived several years of use now.
Not sure what thread to post this in. This one seems as good as any.
Whenever I read a post from @bounceswoosh, I hear Paula Poundstone's voice narrating. Am I way off with that, Coloradans?
Home sick and bored (between attacks of hacking cough, illness-induced narcolepsy, and laundry management).
