They're running a contest on the JH page on Facebook: http://bit.ly/1oT80jk

If you enter, I get points to win a free ticket.

Sorry about that.  I thought the image was the link.  It's up there now or here it is:

They want my friend list, never mind.

They didn't ask for mine -- just gave me the option of signing up using Facebook info, which I didn't do.  Used just email, zip code, and country, which was the other way to sign up.

I wouldn't get much use out of a Jackson pass (bummer :dunno ), but I don't mind giving Bob a better shot at his free ticket.

Every time I use that link, it inserts some Facebook stuff, even if I log out..

Huh.  You go to the Jackson Facebook page, and it sticks your information in?  Weird.  Mine didn't do that. There was an option on the JH FB page to log in using FB information or not.  I used the or not option, and it seemed fine with it.  (Though I did accept the emailed offer offer, which I believe I'll regret.)

The chances of me winning are slim to none, so not worth the downside.

If you use a different browser chances are that whatever cookie it is that knows you're on Facebook won't trigger the friend list question. But maybe you're not like me and don't have three browsers available...

Tried three, one of which I never use. The link translated itself to being Facebook. I hate these new garbly links. You never know where they go until you click them.

Message to Jackson Hole's marketing department - there are lots of people out there that actively distrust and refuse to use Facebook other than where strictly necessary (and even then might keep a fully private alias for purely personal social arrangements).

Yecch. Sometimes the hinky link will show up at the bottom of the window when I hover over it, but not always. It doesn't matter how much anti-redirect hoo-hah I add on to my browsers, sometimes I just end up in the wrong place.

FYI, here is an exchange in the comments section on their FB page:

  •
Chris Maginn Actually it's really best NOT to sign up for this "offer" which is only so their social vendor (Offerpop) can hammer you with SPAM. You cannot sign up for this promotion unless you agree to get SPAMMED by them. No dice and really.....JH....for a classy organization like you this is pretty sleazy.

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort Hi Chris Maginn. Offerpop will not take your info or fill your inbox with spam. We are the only people that will receive your email address. We do not share email lists and you are welcome to opt out of our email at any time. Best, JHMR.

I'm still debating whether to "push the button", per the same issues laid out in this thread, but this does help ease my concerns slightly.  :)

Bob needs a season pass to Jackson Hole?  I though he had a lifetime pass, just on good looks alone.

I'm no judge of male attractiveness, nor have I met the gentleman.  I just go by the OP, in which he mentions getting points for a free ticket.  Maybe his aunt wants to ski or something.
