I have ignored several links I've seen about skiing Hawaii because I though it was stuff from minimal snow skiing available on the Big Island, but then I saw this and was like.....:eek

Chuck Patterson - Chuck the Ripper skiing the waves.

This was shot for a Bogner Sportswear promotion but is one of the coolest things I've seen today.

Cool that is. Swimming in ski boots not so cool.

I've done it.. that is gone swimming with ski boots and skis on.. but not in the ocean with huge waves, rip currents, and undertows.  Speaking of tows I think that is how he drops in, jet ski tow.  I've seen other videos of this with the towing and recovery.

Here's my really warm wax day skiing.  One thing tougher about this than his is my skis didn't float.  Any binding release meant some snorkeling to recover the gear hahahaha..

Over rotation or bailed on trick, either way it looks like it was going to get ugly after the 3rd frame. So you swam with your skis on.:eek Next time use ski straps that way the skis can drag you down to the bottom of the Lake.

Check out the swirl in the water ahead of the guy in the original video from 1:12-1:15.  That's either something pretty solid or something pretty big swimming around.

It was a front.  I came out of the tuck a little early but did manage to land on my feet.  Would have totally butt planted on a steep LZ though,, ugly indeed!
