Much as I love riding my bikes in the summer, I SURE can't wait for the snow to fall - in copious amounts (hear that Ullr?)

They are beautiful skis.  When you ordered them did you say you skied better than Drew;)

Awesome guys! The day new skis come is always a good day (especially if they're Praxis!)

mfa81,

What brought you to the SND? I ski a pair of Cham 87's on the "no new snow for a while" days, and while they are great at some things like luge runs through the trees, they are work and require more effort than I like in the bumps. The SND's are a consideration to replace them.

I bought basically based on some feedback and talking to Keith at praxis. I usually don't demo skis in this category and I though if I'd buy skis without demo then I'd give Praxis a try. Was basically looking for a hardpack ripper :-) Expecting to ski grommers and hard snow off piste!

Time will tell how they will work... I will post a review as soon as I get some time on them!

Other skis I was considering was Kendo, Brahma, MX 88/83... I wanted a narrow ski so kendo, brahma, 88 I kinda left behind and I felt I was kinda in between sizes for the 83.

For me 5'5" / 150- the 167cm / stiff SND seems to hit the target! I have high expectations and I fell I'm gonna love it! It has some short rocker in the tip and a complete flat tail which was exactly what I was looking for!

I just bought the 83 in 173, and I'm wondering whether it's a bit long -- I'm 5'6", 165.  Hm.  I guess a few runs will tell me.  (But I said "Whoohoo," too!)

Yeah, a hair taller but lighter than you guys, and have always figured that the 173 would be too long for me in that ski. Will be interested to hear how mfa likes the snd.

I used the castle size-o-meter and fudged on classification (they break it beginner, intermediate, expert) and fitness (bad shape, average, exceptional) -- it put me on a 183.  I figured I'd try the 173.  I've been skiing 165s, but I demoed a 170 & a 180 out west last year and found I liked the stability -- completely different skis, of course, a Rossi Pursuit 18 & a Sin 7.  The Pursuit is closer, but it has a little early rise.  I was just reluctant to go so short, 163, in the 83.

Guess I'll find out.  I'll let you know.
