Accidentally bought smaller skis.

Thread Starter

I accidentally bought 172 sir Francis bacon and im 6.1 and 158lbs. The skies go up to my nose. This is my 3ed year skiing so the skis i had before were about 165 and i was probably 5.9. The reason my old skies are so small is because i was a beginner. Now, 3 years later, with my height, wight and skill gain would is me a smart idea to keep the 172s coinciding   its a significant size jump from my old 165s? Or should i get 184s because im bigger and better? I live in Alberta and travel to BC. Just letting you guys know what terrain i like to ski in (powder, trees etc.) thanks guys.

Too small, send them back unless you've already mounted the bindings on them.  Bacons are twins and going to ski shorter than published length.

Well, if the skies only go up to your nose you're a lot taller than 6' 1". Okay so much for snark. Apologies. Back to the real topic. Welcome to Epic.

^^^this get the 184, don't be afraid to go long on Line skis 1) they are shorter than stated length 2) they are usually very easy going skis, this includes the SFB 3) tip/tail rocker will make the skis even shorter!

Definitely get at least the 178's, most likely the 184s..

How do you accidentally buy the wrong length?

184 Bacons for sure at 6'1", especially if you are skiing a lot of soft snow in eastern B.C.  Bacons ski rather short as it is and they are light, playful and don't require a lot of mass to turn.  So a 184 is a good fit at your height and weight if you like the feel of a ski like the Bacons.

Plus if you just grew 4 inches in the last 3 years, you are probably pretty young and advancing rapidly in your skiing.  Right now, 178 would be too short if you continue to advance and are somewhat aggressive.  172 isn't even close to right for your size.  If you can't take them back, sell them and recover what you can.
