Logging out

Thread Starter
Hey all, just wanted to say that I'm going to be logging out of epicski. Many reasons, but nothing worthy of elaboration as it's by and large small beers stuff on the big scheme of things. I will check PM's from time to time if anyone wants to contact me. Anyhow, cheers to all. Some of you I truly hope to have the pleasure to cross paths with in the big 1:1.

Cheers,

Mark

Never say never!

I will just say that I appreciate many of your posts.

Like I think of my golf game, "Don't take things too seriously"

Have a great summer :)

Sorry to hear that.

Oh NO!!!!!!

The quality of conversation here will drop dramatically.  NO!!!!!!

There is an evolution to folk's participation here.  Hesitancy, aggression, timid, bold, humble, brash, dumb, wise, observant, reactive, heartfelt, patronizing, serious, flippant, happy, sad - the whole gamut.  When you are feeling like a new evolution come back and enlighten us.  It's all good.  Also, it means everything in the world when you actually ski with some of the people on here rather than just jabber with them on the internet.

It's summer, not much happening in the northern half of the big blue marble.  Just the same fifteen or twenty asshats, hanging out posting here present company included.  That said, I've noticed that forums are dying in general.  Most of the other forums I post in are fading away as long time members drop off and fewer and fewer new people become active regulars.

I would have thought that the Aussies and New Zealanders would have helped traffic over the summer months now that the forum is pretty well known internationally.  Not really though.  It seems that other than the handful of regulars this place is just a depository of gear search info for the rest of the world.

I know which one I am... which one are you?

So do you think facebook and twitter are taking the place of forums?

Or are we here at Epic just getting tired of, well, you-know, ............?

Same for me. I hope everything's OK and that it's just a temporary thing. Mark's at the top my "would like to ski with" list.

There don't seem to be an enormous amount of Aussies or Kiwis on Epicski, I can't think of very many.

Bummer. Hope your living your dream. You will be missed while away.

Don't hesitate to change your mind later just because of this thread start. And come to Jackson for the Gathering. Many of us would like that.

There isn't an enormous amount of regulars from any particular area on EpicSki.  Seems like a dozen from here, a dozen from there, a dozen from that other place, etc...

Yep......being there in person is usually nothing like being here online.  It's far more fun !

Me too, and I'm pathologically shy. redface.gif

I dropped out a few seasons ago, never intending to visit the site again, and was away for the better part of a year. I first came back for guidance in setting up for waxing and tuning, and worked my way to being about as involved as I was before, the difference being that I now take a big step back any time I start caring too much about it. After all, it's just a website.

Isn't that the truth. Well, 97% of the time anyway.

Sorry to see you go, you're one of the good guys. It's a shame when someone like Mark decides it's not worth the brain damage to post when certain insecure idiots take the fun out of a SKI website.

What he said.

Mayhaps we will make some turns around here some day.  Your presence has made this a better place.

There are a few of us - but not many.

And the kiwi's are a bit quiet at the moment because it's early season and there is no snow - think Mammoth this last season

As a rule we don't do the WROD but this year that seems to be all there is.

I haven't been up yet - the only areas that don't involve flying have a base of volcanic scoria - and our normal stomping grounds don't have nearly enough to justify the airfares yet.

Anyway - hope it's just a break Markojp - enjoy your summer

Geez Mark...sorry to see you go. Your insights and timely posts will surely be missed by many--you always had a knack for bringing everyone here "back down to earth" whilst we debated our first world problems ;). I'll always remember our "debates" with CTKook, among others--hopefully this won't be permanent but if it is, stay in touch and I hope we can meet up at Schweitzer next season for some turns!!!!!!!

  Yer pal,

Mark (if you are still checking this thread), I will also miss your presence here. You often bring out perspectives I had not considered, based on considerable experience rather than WAGNER methodology (wild ass guess not easily referenced).

Plus you factor in the prevailing conditions we experience in PNW in your reviews of equipment and responses to posts about a particular ski (often indie brands) so I really appreciate your observations.

Anyway, if you are still checking this, know you will be missed. Maybe I'll PM next time I'm headed to Crystal.
